Abstract: We
have left the century of biological data and have
entered the age of biological knowledge. Here, sequence is secondary
to semantics, and discovery is guided by an ocean of existing
knowledge about biological systems at every level. In this talk I
will describe the ways in which symbolic computing is, or will soon
be paramount in every aspect of biology, from genomics through
systems modeling and discovery.
